The Future Is Calling — and GCUOBA is Answering.
Following the remarkable maiden edition in 2025, the Future Leaders Conference (FLC) returns to Government College Ughelli on Friday, 9 October 2026, bigger in vision, deeper in impact and firmly focused on preparing a new generation for the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.
Conceived and pioneered by the GCUOBA Class of ’88, and this year presented in collaboration with the GCUOBA National Executive Council (NEC), FLC is rapidly evolving beyond an annual gathering into a purposeful platform for leadership development, mentorship, knowledge-sharing and youth empowerment.
The inaugural conference brought together over 300 participants from more than 16 secondary schools, connecting young people with accomplished professionals, academics, entrepreneurs and leaders who shared practical lessons on leadership, education, innovation, character and life.
FLC 2026 is raising the bar.
Students and teachers from 21 invited secondary schools across Ughelli, Warri and surrounding communities are being brought together at Government College Ughelli for an immersive day of ideas, conversations and experiences designed to challenge how young people see themselves — and what they believe is possible for their future.
This year’s conversations will move beyond conventional speeches. Through engaging sessions, real-life experiences, interactive challenges and direct conversations with accomplished Resource Persons, students will explore leadership and character, artificial intelligence and the future of work, financial intelligence, entrepreneurship and innovation, education and career choices, personal development, responsible decision-making and the dangers of substance abuse.
The objective is simple but ambitious:
To inspire young people to think bigger.
To equip them to make better choices.
To expose them to possibilities.
To connect them with people who have walked the road ahead.
And to remind them that leadership does not begin someday — it begins now.
FLC represents something at the heart of the Government College Ughelli tradition: one generation deliberately investing in the generation coming behind it.
On 9 October 2026, the historic grounds of Government College Ughelli will once again become a meeting point between experience and aspiration, achievement and possibility, today’s leaders and tomorrow’s changemakers.
This is more than a conference.
It is an investment in the future.
It is mentorship in action.
